Mwanasikana (Girl Child)

Mwanasikana is the story if young Tariro, who’s education is under threat because she is a girl. Tariro’s father is deep in debt with the local storekeeper and in order to keep him satisfied, her father promises Tariro as his bride. Tariro’s older sister overhears their sinister plan and confronts her father. The mother is shocked at her husband’s plan and together the women convince Tariro’s father that she is too young to be married off and must rather finish her education.
